Crown Work:

A Crown is a tooth like covering placed over an existing tooth in the mouth. A crown is typically covered by porcelain, matching the shade of the surrounding teeth, making this restoration very durable and aesthetic to.

When might a crown be recommended?
After a tooth has had a Root Canal treatment performed, if a tooth breaks in such a manner that a traditional filling can no longer be retained.

Bridge Work:

A Bridge is a custom made restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth. When a tooth that has been lost is replaced by a bridge, the teeth on either side are prepared as crowns. These teeth are then able to hold a replacement tooth suspended between them. A bridge is cemented over existing teeth and is 1 entire unit.

Metal Free Restorations:

At our office we do refrain from using Amalgam (that contains mercury) to restore teeth. More currently, a resin material would be bonded to the prepped tooth and cured into place. Advantages of using resin material is that it is tooth coloured and matches surrounding teeth, the resin material is bonded to the natural tooth and helps to hold the tooth and restoration together as one unit for strength.
